2024 Ford Bronco: All-New Ford Bronco SUV Review

2024 Ford Bronco is a unique SUV that combines practicality, all-terrain capability, open-top fun, and vintage looks. Originally introduced in the 1960s, the Bronco has gone through several generations before being revived by Ford for the 2021 model year.

The 2024 model year is not expected to bring significant changes, aside from potential new paint colors and trim options.

The Bronco stands out for its personality and versatility. Its modern design incorporates classic features that pay homage to its predecessors. The interior is also modern and stylish, featuring functional elements such as exposed screws and built-in auxiliary switches. All in all, the Bronco is a charming and capable SUV that combines vintage flair with modern amenities.

The Bronco is equipped with standard four-wheel drive and G.O.A.T. modes, making it capable of conquering tough terrain beyond the pavement.

However, on the road, the Bronco’s ride is noisy and rough, likely due to its blocky design, which negatively impacts fuel efficiency. While the interior is well-liked overall, some components feel flimsy and cheap.

If you’re in the market for a practical, comfortable, and efficient all-purpose vehicle, there are plenty of crossovers to choose from, including the smaller Bronco Sport. The Bronco isn’t meant to be sensible or conventional; instead, it’s designed for off-road adventures and exhilarating fun. Except for one other SUV, there really isn’t anything like the Bronco.

2024 Ford Bronco Review

In recent years, there has been a resurgence in off-road adventures, possibly due to the pandemic or the release of new off-road-capable vehicles. Among these vehicles, the Ford Bronco has gained significant popularity and has proven to be a worthy competitor to the iconic Jeep Wrangler in terms of all-terrain capabilities.

2024 Ford Bronco

With the successful launch and introduction of new variants in the past three years, we don’t anticipate any major changes for the 2024 Ford Bronco, apart from minor updates such as new paint options and special editions. It’s unlikely that we’ll see any significant changes like the Raptor or Everglades trims seen in previous years.

We are satisfied with the lack of significant changes in the 2024 Ford Bronco, as it is already one of the top off-road SUVs. Although it is not flawless, we thoroughly evaluate all aspects of our Expert Rating.

When it comes to hitting the trails, the Bronco is hard to beat, even compared to tough competitors like the Jeep Wrangler, Land Rover Defender, and Toyota 4Runner.

  • Impressive all-terrain capability
  • Pleasant on-road steering and comfort
  • Helpful technology features for off-roading
  • Offers an extraordinary level of customization

Performance

The Bronco comes with either a turbo four-cylinder or a turbo V6, both of which provide adequate power for daily driving with a 10-speed automatic transmission that shifts quickly and smoothly.

The V6 model offers more power, making short merges and on-ramps more enjoyable, and it can reach 60 mph from a standstill in 7.3 seconds, which is respectable considering its large tires and four-door layout.

When braking hard, the Bronco experiences a significant amount of nosedive, which is typical for off-road SUVs. However, the emergency stopping distances were longer than ideal, with a panic stop from 60 mph taking 146 feet, a distance normally associated with heavy-duty pickup trucks.

It’s worth noting that the test vehicle had the Sasquatch off-road package with rugged tires, but even other Broncos with less aggressive tires stopped only 10 feet shorter, which is still longer than preferred.

The Bronco’s steering is one of its strongest features. With an independent front suspension, the steering wheel provides a sense of assurance and steadiness when driving at highway speeds. While it may not offer many thrills on winding roads, drivers will appreciate the fact that the steering won’t tire them out during long trips.

2024 Ford Bronco Interior

When getting in and out of the Bronco, similar to other off-road vehicles, it may require a decent step up or down, but there are many grab handles located throughout the cabin to aid in this process.

While we would prefer front grab handles on the windshield pillars instead of the dashboard, the current placement works in a pinch.

The driver’s seat and steering wheel have generous adjustment ranges, ensuring that all controls and gauges are easily visible. We like the large physical controls, as their size and placement make them easy to operate when wearing gloves.

The Bronco’s interior feels spacious due to the ample headroom. This spaciousness extends to the rear seat, even in two-door models, although accessing those seats in the two-door Bronco can be cramped since the front seats don’t move forward enough.

2024 Ford Bronco: Comfort

The Bronco, although not luxurious, is more comfortable on the road than its direct competitor, the Jeep Wrangler. Its seats offer better support and various adjustments to reduce fatigue during long highway drives.

The vehicle’s construction, which is based on a truck, results in a ride that is somewhat stiffer and bouncier than other SUVs, but not enough to detract from the driving experience.

The available dual-zone climate control is effective and allows you to adjust the auto setting’s intensity, and the heated front seats warm up quickly, which is helpful if you have the doors off on a chilly day.

However, the removable hardtop causes a significant amount of wind noise at any speed, which affects Bronco’s score in this category. During off-road testing, several rattles and vibrations were also noticed.

Technology

To assist drivers, the Bronco has standard and optional driver’s aids, such as exterior cameras and adaptive cruise control. Additionally, the Bronco offers off-road driver aids that can be manually controlled by experienced drivers or automatically activated by the vehicle via various drive modes for less experienced drivers.

Regrettably, the adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance were not well-calibrated according to our tests.

However, the Bronco’s infotainment and connectivity software are up-to-date and are easy to use with Android and Apple smartphones, whether you opt for wired or wireless connections. The sound system in our test vehicle struggled to overcome road noise while driving on the freeway.

Storage

The Bronco is larger than the Wrangler, resulting in a more spacious interior with greater cargo capacity. However, the four-door Bronco has slightly less space than the similarly sized Toyota 4Runner.

The rear swing gate opens to the passenger side and stays in place thanks to a strut. The rear glass on hardtop models folds up effortlessly, but the soft top doesn’t open as wide and requires a prop rod to stay up.

The storage options inside the Bronco are satisfactory, with an appropriate number of cupholders and compartments for personal belongings. However, the door pocket netting is too shallow for most water bottles. Some models’ front seatbacks have Molle-style attachment points for hanging equipment.

An optional trailer hitch with four- and seven-pin connectors enable the Bronco to tow up to 3,500 pounds. A trailer brake controller is not included but can be purchased as an accessory. All Broncos can be flat-towed with all four wheels on the ground.

2024 Ford Bronco Facelift

The Ford Bronco will get a refresh for the 2024 model year, a new report suggests.

Given that the facelifted Bronco launch is still a few years away it’s hard to know what changes Ford will make but they will likely include a revised front and rear fascia as well as some interior updates and possibly some new technology.

2024 Ford Bronco Features

The 2024 Ford Bronco is expected to deliver these features and updates including a more capable front bumper and roof rack available as well as an optional manual transmission for the Broncos equipped with the Sasquatch package.

New Ford Bronco Color

We know that buyers will have two new colors named Eruption Green Metallic and Hot Pepper Red Metallic which can be selected based on the user’s favorite color.

All-Elecric 2024 Ford Bronco EV

2024 Ford Bronco EV Ford CEO Jim Farley seems to hint that an electric Bronco is also in the works, but we have no further information on that for now.

2024 Ford Bronco

Hybrid or All-Electric Bronco?

Ford has been vocal about its electric ambitions, and it has already introduced electric versions of some of its most iconic models, such as the Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning. S

o, is it possible that an all-electric Bronco is in the works? While it’s not confirmed, it’s not out of the question, and some think it’s likely to happen in the future.

It’s possible that a hybrid version could come first, but we may have to wait another one or two years for an electric Bronco to be officially announced. Once it’s here, it will join the ranks of other electric off-road vehicles such as the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, the Rivian R1S, and the Mercedes-EQ EQG.

Sasquatch or Everglades?

Ford provides various options to improve the off-road capabilities of the Bronco if the standard setup is not sufficient.

One option is to get the Sasquatch package, which includes features such as 35-inch tires on wheels that can be locked, a higher suspension, wider fender flares, and locking front and rear axles, among other things.

The other option is the Bronco Everglades, which takes the Sasquatch package as its base and adds features intended to enhance its ability to wade through water, such as raised axle air vents, a snorkel, and a built-in Warn winch.

Engine

It’s expected that the 2024 Bronco will offer the same engine choices as before. These include a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 275 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque on regular gas, or 300 hp and 325 lb-ft on premium.

It can be paired with a 10-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmission. When tested, a manual transmission two-door Bronco went from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds. Its fuel economy is projected to be around 16-20/17-21 mpg city/highway.

Additionally, a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 is available, producing 315 hp and 410 lb-ft, or 330 hp and 415 lb-ft with premium fuel. However, this engine is only compatible with the 10-speed automatic transmission and not the manual option.

A four-door Bronco with this engine went from 0 to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds in testing. It’s expected to get around 17-18/17-20 mpg.

MPG

The Bronco’s fuel economy fell short of our expectations, considering it’s a newer vehicle with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

According to the EPA, four-cylinder models of the Bronco get an estimated fuel economy of 17 to 20 mpg combined, while six-cylinder versions range from 17 to 19 mpg combined. These estimates are generally lower than comparable Jeep Wrangler models.

During our test of the four-door First Edition Bronco with the 2.7-liter V6 engine, we were able to match the EPA’s estimated 17 mpg in mixed driving. However, compared to any Wrangler currently available, except for the V8-powered 392, the Bronco’s fuel economy estimate is lower.

2024 Ford Bronco Price

The current Bronco has a price range of $29,995 to $58,905 depending on trim. Our 2024 Ford Bronco speculated price is price ranges from $30,995 to $50,905 with several feature upgrades.

2024 Ford Bronco Release Date

The Bronco will soon be available in other parts of the world, including the Middle East and possibly Europe although it will likely not be available as a right-hand drive model.

Meanwhile, an all-electric Bronco might be in the works, which isn’t a big surprise given the fact that the automaker is investing heavily in EVs and plans to eventually turn its entire North American lineup into electric power.

The 2024 Ford Bronco is still uncertain when the release schedule is because Ford has not provided official information. But we believe it will likely arrive sometime in 2023.
