This time, existing updates focus on adding more technology and some new styling options. One of the most significant changes is in the cabin, with the availability of an optional 12-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Not only that, but Ford also implemented their latest infotainment technology, SYNC 4. It was introduced at the end of 2019 and is claimed to have twice the computing power of the SYNC 3 system.

SYNC 4 also provides Apple CarPlay or Android Auto wireless service to Super Duty 2022, eliminating the method of device connected via USB. Ford will offer that enhanced infotainment display – mounted on top of the physical controls for commonly used vehicle functions – on the Lariat trim and above.

For the XL trim, SYNC voice control and a 4.2-inch display are standard, with SYNC 3 available as an upgrade. Meanwhile, the XLT trim gets an 8.0-inch screen which is paired with SYNC 3 as standard equipment.

What’s new for the 2022 model year is the Lariat Sport Appearance Package. From the name, we know this to beautify the exterior. This package adds several body-color elements – bumpers, grille, and mirrors – in addition to a chrome exhaust tip and a black running board platform.

Ford is also expanding the availability of its Black Appearance Package to the XLT trim. It gives the pickup truck a black badge, 20-inch Ebony Black wheels, body-colored front, and rear bumpers, and body-colored grille bars.

There’s also a 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel engine that produces 475 hp (354 kW) and 1,050 lb-ft. (1,423 Nm) of torque. This refurbished truck will arrive this summer, including the Lariat Sport Appearance Package. However, the Black Appearance Package won’t be available for XLT trucks until fall.

Ford is upgrading its screenplay to rival Ram’s vertically oriented touchscreen. The 2022 F-250 Super Duty Regular Cab is a big stocky pickup equipped with a massive 6.2-liter V8 engine. The gigantic engine produces 385 horsepower and 430-pound feet of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox in the standard variant. You can have a rear-wheel pickup or an all-wheel drivetrain.

It is not the most powerful of the others, the title is 2500 RAM with 6.4 Liter V8 and 410 horsepower. Rivals GMC and Chevrolet have the same engine, a 6.6 liter V8 that produces 401 horsepower.

The 2021 model will have the same engine options as the 6.2 Liter V8, the 6.7 Liter Diesel V8, and the 7.2 Liter V8 in the higher trims. It doesn’t have the most powerful engine options, but it’s a very smooth engine and offers good power delivery.

Even with a bigger engine and great performance, the Ford failed to hit a better 0-60mph time. Ford gets a 0-60 time of 8.5 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 18.1 seconds. However, considering this is a 6000-pound truck, this is a very impressive number.

The best performer in this segment is Chevrolet with an impressive zero to sixty-second time. The second best in this segment is Chevy’s half-brother, GMC Sierra.

2022 F250 Godzilla

Ford’s New Engine, Twin-Turbo Godzilla, Under Development The news appears in an exclusive report from the Ford Authority.

Ever since Ford introduced the Godzilla as a ready-to-go crate engine, we’ve seen a lot of tuners walk into the giant factory and tune them to a certain number. We’ve seen some of the new big pushrod engines, designed for the 2020 Ford F-250 truck.

The engine is capable of producing up to 1,015 horsepower (757 kilowatts) with the use of supercharging. Meanwhile, the Godzilla twin-turbo engine made by Merkel Racing Engines also produces a lot of power, up to 1,114 hp (830.7 kW).

Looking at those numbers is impressive, but it looks like Ford made their own forced-induced Godzilla engine. The news appears in an exclusive report from the Ford Authority.

According to sources familiar with the US automaker’s research and development project, the twin-turbo Godzilla engine is currently being tested for the Ford Super Duty truck.

Prior to 2020 the Ford Super Duty had a 7.3-liter V8 engine, producing 430 horsepower (320 kilowatts) and 475 pound-feet (664 Newton-meters) of torque. There’s also a 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel engine that makes 475 hp (354 kW) and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. (1,424 Nm).

But for Ford’s upcoming Godzilla engine, no power output has been revealed yet. The source simply describes the machine that was modified in such a way in development as a “monster”.

With two turbos in place, we can expect huge torque output from this Godzilla engine. Although, we highly doubt it will surpass the 1,050 pound-feet (1,424 Newton-meter) revs of the current Power Stroke turbodiesel engine.

But one thing is for sure, the engine will likely be available as a crate engine if it reaches production. For those who don’t know, the Godzilla V8 naturally aspirated pushrod engine has a capacity of 445 cubic inches or 7.3 liters.

It produces 430 hp (320 kW) and 475 lb-ft (644 Nm) of torque at 4,000 RPM, designed to be a workhorse with a diesel-like powerband. Ford’s performance has become less stale with the development of a Godzilla engine like this.

Towards the end of last year, Mike Goodwin of Ford Performance teased a “super-secret project” called Megazilla that would expend more power. Are the twin-turbo monster engine project and Goodwin’s Megazilla project related? It is still a mystery to this day.

For now, all we can do is wait for an official announcement from Ford as the engine manufacturer.
